INSIDE OUT 2 is a juggernaut!!! Globally, it was the biggest opening weekend in Pixar history. Domestically, it is Pixar's 2nd biggest opening ever. It was the biggest opening since last year's overall #1 movie, BARBIE. And boy did we contribute to those numbers here at the Midway! Due to the delayed start of our season, it smashed the record for any opening weekend in our 76 years. Folks were incredibly cooperative, patient, and wonderfully good-natured. THANK YOU! The atmosphere was electric. Like a sold-out amusement park, the food line was long. We sincerely apologize for that. We're working on putting the money earned this weekend into some solutions. Crowds this weekend most likely will not be as big as opening weekend.
John here; I'm not sure if people felt sorry for my recent abdominal problems and surgery hahaha, but holy moly I can't remember a weekend that was this well-attended and yet this smooth. I can't thank you all enough. There's always issues that arise when that many people come together. Huge family shows have more issues due to more open hatches and outside seating, than adult-oriented programs. Space becomes tighter. I regret not staying on top of asking folks to tie down their hatchbacks. We will do more of that this weekend. If you're watching the movie with your hatch open we ask you to tie it down to roof level, so as to improve the view for people behind you. We always have twine available for no charge at the projection booth. If you have some bungee cords you can bring along, they work great. Please park within one foot of a post and set up blankets and chairs just in your space. There is room for two vehicles between each set of posts. There is no saving of spaces, please.
Our loaner radios went extremely fast this weekend. We have them for folks who don't have an operational car stereo, but if it's not really busy there's usually enough for folks to use them to sit outside. However with these large crowds, we implore you to bring along a portable radio or boombox if you have one. The superior sound is through your car stereo. Just tune to 87.9FM as you would with any over-the-air radio station like TK99/TK105 or B104.7. The soundtrack sounds amazing and you control the volume. Unless your vehicle battery is in need of replacing, it will last fine through the movie with the radio on. A quick start of your engine and maybe a minute or two charge during the movie might not be a bad idea if you're unsure of your battery strength. Usually, when vehicles need jumps, lights or defogger fans have been on. If you need a jump it's no problem, no charge! Just come to the projection booth if you need any help whatsoever. A jump won't harm your battery or vehicle, and the drive home will charge the battery right back up.
